University of Manitoba

About the Program

The PBSC chapter at Robson Hall (University of Manitoba) has been in operation since 2003.  Student membership remains at almost one-third of the student body, with a significant number of students remaining involved throughout their upper years.

PBSC at Robson Hall offered a total of nine projects during the 2008/2009 school year.  Some of the most popular projects were the clinical placements that were a result of the “Philanthropy and the Law” initiative at Robson Hall; these new initiatives provided more client centered and clinical style opportunities for students than in previous years.  While still maintaining a core center of research based projects, we were also able to offer these new participatory projects that involved organizations including the University of Manitoba Students Union (UMSU), Nor’West Community Health Centre (in conjunction with Legal Aid Manitoba), the Elizabeth Fry Society and the Continuing Legal Education and Action Fund.

PBSC Manitoba is generously funded by the Manitoba Law Foundation, the Winnipeg Foundation and the McCarthy Tétrault Foundation.
