PBSC invited to Santiago, Chile for an international conference on pro bono in the Americas!Print
PBSC National Director Nikki Gershbain was invited to Santiago, Chile, along with law practitioners from across the Americas for an International conference: “Strengthening Access to Justice” on April 7 and 8, 2011. Gershbain spoke about the role law students and law schools can play in providing pro bono services. Chile’s Fundación Pro Bono and the New York City Bar Association’s Cyrus R. Vance Center for International Justice organized the conference. The two-day meeting built upon a series of conferences that have taken place in the Americas since 2000, aiming to promote collaboration and good practices in leveraging pro bono to address the unmet legal needs of the poor, and develop new, innovative strategies on how the legal profession can strengthen current pro bono initiatives. Representatives of law firms, bar associations, law schools, corporate legal departments and nonprofit organizations representing Canada, the United States, and Latin America attended.
