PBSC National Director to Present at the CBA’s Envisioning Equal Justice SummitPrint
PBSC National Director Nikki Gershbain is off to Vancouver this week to participate in a national summit on access to justice in Canada. Titled “Envisioning Equal Justice: Building Justice for Everyone”, the Summit is meant to bring the legal profession together to develop a cohesive and coordinated framework for moving forward as a profession. Summit participants will spend three days working together to develop practical strategies, skills and tools for building a more just society.
Gershbain will be speaking on a panel titled “Law Students, Law Schools and Legal Education: an underutilized resource for increasing access?” The session will review the challenges and possibilities of student clinical and pro bono work to help fill the access to justice gap. Other speakers include Lindsey Cybulskie, a lawyer at CLASSIC in Saskatoon, Doug Ferguson, President of the Association for Canadian Clinical Legal Education, Neil Gold, Professor Emeritus at the University of Windsor Faculty of Law, Brea Lowenberg, President of the Association of Canadian Clinical Legal Education Students, and David Wiseman, Assistant Professor at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law.
