TORONTO, ON OCTOBER 1, 2025 –
Dear Friends of PBSC,
On behalf of the Henry N.R. Jackman Faculty of Law, University of Toronto, I write with an update regarding Pro Bono Students Canada’s leadership.
I am delighted to share that Andrew Biteen joined PBSC as National Director on August 27. Andrew brings to the role a wealth of experience in higher education and not-for-profit leadership, combined with a track record of advancing inclusion and community partnerships. His background includes developing and managing the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at McGill, launching and leading over $100M in programs dedicated to access and excellence in education at the Rideau Hall Foundation, and helping to build the first diversity, equity, and inclusion program at Canadian Blood Services. He has also served on the boards of several post-secondary institutions and community organizations across Montreal, Ottawa, and Toronto.
Earlier in his career, Andrew was a member of the Barreau du Québec and articled and briefly practiced at a national law firm. He received a B.A. from Dartmouth College and a joint B.C.L./LL.B. (with honours) from the McGill Faculty of Law. Andrew can be reached at andrew.biteen@probonostudents.ca.
Looking ahead, PBSC is preparing to mark its 30th anniversary in 2026—a meaningful milestone in the organization’s history. Later this year, PBSC will embark on a new strategic planning process to reflect on its evolution, respond to emerging access to justice needs, and chart a bold course for the future. I look forward to the expertise, vision, and energy Andrew will bring to this important role and, on behalf of the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, extend the warmest of welcomes to him.
Sincerely,
Brittany Twiss
Assistant Dean, JD Program, University of Toronto Faculty of Law
and PBSC Advisory Board member
